About the night class
As part of the exhibition The Valley by Fabrice Hyber, the Fondation Cartier invites author on ecology and director of The Shift Project Matthieu Auzanneau, and director of the Fondation Tara Océan Romain Troublé, to participate in the Voices of the Valley evening series. Within the exhibition spaces, the two guest speakers discuss the hypotheses proposed by Fabrice Hyber in his paintings before a live audience.
Over the course of this evening, based on the works Liquid Sun, Le Musée du plastique, and Fountains, these two experts in their field will raise the question of a necessary energy transition, and possible solutions in the face of the scarcity of natural resources privileging the protection of our oceans.
This live discussion will be broadcast simultaneously on the websites of the Fondation Cartier and *Duuu Radio, and in the form of podcasts via the main platforms.

Matthieu AuzanneauBorn in 1974, Matthieu Auzanneau is an author and blogger specializing in ecology and economics, as well as the director of the energy transition think tank The Shift Project. For over ten years, he worked as a journalist exploring economic and ecological issues (Le Monde, Arte, etc.) and since 2010, has been one of the guest bloggers of the editorial staff of Le Monde, with his blog Oil Man, chroniques du début de la fin du pétrole. In 2015, he published Or Noir, la grande histoire du pétrole (La Découverte), a work awarded a Special Prize from the Association of Energy Economists (AEE). More recently, he co-wrote Pétrole: le déclin est proche with Hortense Chauvin (Éditions du Seuil/Reporterre, 2021) and co-directed Climat, crises: le plan de transformation de l'économie française with Emma Stokking (Éditions Odile Jacob, 2022).

Romain TroubléRomain Troublé holds a double degree in molecular biology from Sorbonne University and business management from HEC-Telecom Paris. A skilled sailor, he participated in the America’s Cup as part of the French team on two occasions and has organized adventure and scientific expeditions to the North Pole, South Pole, and Siberia. From 2004 onwards, in collaboration with its founders, he oversaw the organization of the expeditions of the schooner Tara and became Managing Director of the Fondation Tara Océan in 2009. This Foundation has carried out twelve expeditions with major research laboratories, each contributing to greater knowledge about the ocean and the world in which we live. Since 2017, Romain Troublé has acted as president of the Plateforme Océan & Climat, which seeks to promote the vital importance of the ocean within the Paris Agreement, as well as of the Beyond Plastic Med association, whose aim is to stop plastic pollution in the Mediterranean Sea.

This ticket includes access to the evening class on the date chosen when booking, as well as entry to the exhibition that same day from 5pm.
