About the publication
On the occasion of the Patti Smith exhibition and the publication of the book Land 250, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain copublished with Actes Sud three books devoted to the artistic world of Patti Smith: Charleville, Statues and Cahier, combined in a set entitled Trois.
Charleville encompasses Patti Smith’s works (texts, drawings, and photographs) revolving around the figure of Arthur Rimbaud. The book gathers documents and texts collected over a period of almost forty years.
Statues showcases photographs of sculptures taken by Patti Smith. These Polaroids made between 2002 and 2008 are accompanied by poems of the artist.
Cahier is a notebook inspired by those belonging to Patti Smith. The first pages are filled with Patti Smith’s handwriting and the rest is left to the reader’s personal use.
The whole set perfectly reflects Patti Smith’s long-standing interest in literature, photography and all kind of artistic expression.
