| In the context of Ian Hamilton Finlay’s exhibition Poursuites révolutionnaires at Jouy-en-Josas in 1987, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain asked Daniel Boudinet to realize a series of photographs of Finlay’s Little Sparta trust in Scotland. Boudinet proposed a visual survey through nine photographs that provide a very accurate perception of the relationship between nature and culture in the garden at Stonypath. To accompany the exhibition, the Fondation Cartier published Un paysage ou Neuf vues du jardin de Ian Hamilton Finlay, a book that renders all the poetic views of what can certainly be considered Ian Hamilton Finlay’s major work: his garden. |
